The living is easy
My favorite season has always wavered between spring and fall. But no longer.
Summer.
Summer is the greatest. Summer in Chicago is especially the super awesome greatest. This is why we bother living here the other 9 months of the year. I'll take the heat. Everything is so great.
This summer I've been biking everywhere with my little guitar strapped to my back, pink sunglasses on, t-shirt, cutoff jeans, chucks. Playing music on street corners. Getting inspired to write songs. Dancing with kids at Millennium Park. Sitting outside at night. Ice cream-- with fresh organic milk and strawberries! Watching terrible-but-fun action movies. Playing a set at a bike-safety event. Getting caught in the rain, only to have it eventually melt back into beautiful sunshine. Drinking beers. Eating grilled food. Heart to hearts with old and new friends. Phone conversations on a stroll down the street. Learning harmonica in the car. Frisbee. No coat, no purse. Saying yes and filling up every minute of these long beautiful days.
Mmmmm hmmmmm.

Cheer up, honey, it's bound to get better...tomorrow is another day! (Glad to hear that things are going so well for you. It took a while, but you have carved a beautiful life in Chicago. That makes us all happy!)
Enjoy the summer. I agree that this is the best summer so far in a long while. Probably after the crappy winter. It hasn't been too hot yet, and that's when I start to melt. But so far it's been the best! I love it when we don't use the AC, and let the fresh air in the house. That has been great.
See you in a couple of days in the north country!
sounds oh-so-fab, my dear. hurrah summer!
an odd, but happy coincidence :)
